This tool is a horse chain twitch (also known as a chain-end nose twitch). It is a traditional restraint device used primarily by veterinarians, farriers, and horse handlers to safely calm and control horses during stressful, painful, or high-risk medical and grooming procedures

The metal chain loop is placed around the horse's upper lip (belfo). The handler then twists the wooden handle to tighten the chain firmly around the lip.

Safety Limits: A twitch should only be used for short periods (typically under 5 to 10 minutes), as the calming effect wears off after prolonged use and can cause discomfort.
